At the Foundation for Vancouver Public Schools, we’re proud to partner with organizations that believe in the power of education to transform lives. Today, we’re grateful to recognize Riverview Bank for their generous $5,000 gift in support of the Read Across America program.
Thanks to their support, this year’s celebration made a meaningful impact across our community.
A total of 1,543 students received books in 14 different languages, including Spanish, Chuukese, Albanian, Russian, Ukrainian, Tagalog, and Mandarin. Each book represented more than a story—it reflected a student’s identity, culture, and home language.
One of the most powerful moments came as families received books in the languages they use every day. Their appreciation was heartfelt and genuine, reminding us that when students see themselves reflected in their learning, they feel recognized, included, and supported.
In all, more than 1,500 books were distributed—helping to build home libraries and inspire a love of reading beyond the classroom. The thank-you notes from Vancouver Public Schools students reflect the impact of this program in a simple but powerful way.

In addition to the generous support of Riverview Bank, this project came to life through the dedication of Vancouver Public Schools’ Family-Community Resource Coordinators and the support of community partners, Read Northwest, and the Clohe Lumpkin Memorial Fund.
We are proud to be part of a community that continues to show up for students in thoughtful, meaningful ways.
Thank you, Riverview Bank, for helping make this work possible and for your continued commitment to our students’ success.
