College & Career Readiness

Funding provides opportunities for students to discover all of their possible pathways after high school and explore their career interests. Students receive college readiness programming, career planning support, real-world work experiences, and support in internships to prepare for life after graduation.

Examples of impact during the 2024-2025 School Year:

• Students received college readiness programming through GEAR UP (“Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programming”).
• 220 students placed in internships were supported with gas cards, job specific clothing, fees for certifications, interview workshops, and job networking events. Students experiencing homelessness were provided with additional support to obtain critical documents, such as birth certificates, necessary for employment and accessing social services. Funding also supported the cost of employment‑related certifications and licenses, including food handler cards.
• Students attended presentations on college and career planning and participated in peer-to-peer mediation training.
• Access fee covered for 111 Running Start Students at Clark College
• In addition, each year students enrolled in the Fort Vancouver High School culinary arts program receive catering experience by planning, preparing, and serving guests at the FVPS annual luncheon at the Hilton Vancouver.
