The Foundation for Vancouver Public Schools is excited to announce a generous $10,000 matching gift from Dick Hannah for our annual Write from the Start campaign. This initiative is crucial in supporting our School Supply Drive, which ensures that every student has the tools they need to begin the school year successfully.
With over 49% of Vancouver Public Schools (VPS) students qualifying for subsidized meals—a key indicator of federal poverty—the need for support is significant. In some schools, this figure rises to 86%, highlighting the importance of community involvement in bridging the gap. Thanks to contributions from compassionate partners like Dick Hannah, we can extend our reach even further.
Donations to the Write from the Start School Supply Drive (WFTS) directly impact over 11,000 students across 40 schools. By providing essential supplies, we help alleviate the financial burden on families and equip students with the resources they need to thrive academically. Your contributions, whether in the form of supplies or cash donations, play a pivotal role in this effort.
Starting from July 25th through August 19th, physical locations will be available for drop-off donations. Additionally, cash donations will be accepted until August 31st. Every dollar donated is matched by Dick Hannah, doubling the impact of your generosity and ensuring that more students receive the support they need.
