Thank You, US Bank!
We are grateful to US Bank for their generous $20,000 grant in support of the Vancouver Public Schools’ internship program.
This internship program is part of the Career Connected Learning initiative, led by Nina Lupo. The program is designed to help students explore and prepare for future careers through a structured, progressive framework:
- Career Awareness: Introducing students to a variety of careers through job fairs, guest speakers, and similar experiences.
- Career Exploration: Encouraging students to delve deeper into careers of interest through networking events, informational interviews, and more.
- Career Preparation: Providing extended worksite learning opportunities and internships.
It is at the internship stage where financial barriers can prevent students from moving forward. Costs for items like uniforms, safety gear (such as steel-toed boots), transportation, or certifications can be prohibitive. Thanks to this grant from US Bank, the Career Connected Learning program can cover these expenses. Additionally, it ensures all students who complete an internship receive a modest stipend.
“Supporting the development of a dynamic workforce is an investment in today and our future,” said Meghan Valley, Community Affairs Manager at US Bank. “We’re proud to work with organizations like the Foundation for Vancouver Public Schools to help provide students with pathways to successful careers and build thriving communities.”
Thank you, US Bank, for your belief and investment in Vancouver’s youth. Your support is making a real difference!
