We were recently delighted to receive a special donation in the mail from Lily, a 13-year-old entrepreneur with a passion for helping others.
Lily participated in My Lemonade Day, a program produced by the Greater Vancouver Chamber that teaches young people to start and run their own businesses. In an effort to support her school, Lily launched her business, Forever Flower, created and sold beautiful pressed flower cards and bookmarks, then donated the proceeds to the Foundation for Vancouver Public Schools.
The idea first blossomed on Mother’s Day while Lily was making pressed flower cards. After her dad suggested they were beautiful enough to sell, Lily decided to turn her creativity into a business and use the opportunity to give back. With determination and a tight timeline, she got to work creating her products and preparing for the event. The hard work paid off, and Lily says she enjoyed the experience so much that she hopes to participate again next year!

When asked about her favorite teacher, Lily didn’t hesitate. Her answer: 6th grade science teacher Ms. Ghosn, because “she’s always cheery and she tries to make learning very fun.”
And when we asked what advice she would give to other kids who want to make a difference, Lily shared this encouragement:
“They should find something that they like creating – like, if they’re artistic, they should make drawings and sell them. Things like that.”
Thank you, Lily, for reminding us that no matter your age, anyone can make a difference!
